Interview with Mer!
Who is your BTS bias and why?
Yoongi because I relate to his introverted energy and emotional dualities. Also like Yoongi, I have certain friendships that bring out my inner chaotic nature #SOPE
What is your favorite form of creative expression these days?
Honestly creative work has been really hard for me to get into during the pandemic - it’s been a rough year on so many levels and I don’t have as much energy to put into art as I would like. But singing along to Spotify playlists and occasionally learning new image editing skills have felt healing for me this spring.
How has BTS influenced your relationship with your creativity/art practice?
I think BTS has given me more confidence to make and share art, partially because it seems like their approach to music is really an act of love for each other and for ARMY. BTS models creative expression as an act of generosity and care, which has been a generative reframe for me.

If you could do any kind of creative project with one member of BTS, who would it be and what kind of project would you do?
I want to collaborate with Suga on a track, then give the track to Jimin and J-Hope to choreograph a dance to.
What has been your favorite part of being involved with Dream Glow? Favorite Dream Glow memory?
One of my favorite things about working on each issue of Dream Glow is the moment when the aesthetic theme coalesces. It’s kind of magic how motifs (e.g. the ocean) will show up across the submissions, even though the artists and writers don’t know what else has been submitted and we don’t prompt them in any particular way. And then translating that to design elements in layout!
What are you looking forward to in this second year of Dream Glow?
I am looking forward to watching this community and team grow! So many things have happened in this first year that I could not have imagined, and I am excited to see what else ARMY has in store.
