Interview with Nikki!
Who is your BTS bias and why?
J-hope! Hobi became my bias during the Wings Era (Intro: Boy Meets Evil) because of his work ethic, charisma, and optimism. Also, seeing j-hope perform live meant I would never ever doubt my bias. He is other-worldly on stage.
What is your favorite form of creative expression these days?
Poetry! I wrote my first poem when I was 9 years old. To me, a poem is like a gemstone. It might seem small at first glance, but it’s dense and beautiful and contains multitudes.
How has BTS influenced your relationship with your creativity/art practice?
BTS gives me a lot of confidence to try new things because they showcase their creative processes and share their interest in always continuing to learn and to explore. I also find that recurring themes in their work speak to my experiences and I want to sit down and share my stories, as I listen to theirs.
If you could do any kind of creative project with one member of BTS, who would it be and what kind of project would you do?
I would love to collaborate on a series of poems/songs with RM that respond to specific contemporary visual art pieces. I love RM’s interest in visual art and my poetry is also often inspired by visual artists, particularly the work of “Earthworks” artists like James Turrell, Walter de Maria, and Ana Mendieta.
What has been your favorite part of being involved with Dream Glow? Favorite Dream Glow memory?
It’s so hard to pick one thing! I love our team and the diverse skill sets and ideas we all bring to the table. I also think so much about the stories of the artists and writers whose work we have published. I loved reading their bios and understanding how BTS fits into their personal artistic journeys.
What are you looking forward to in this second year of Dream Glow?
Getting our magazine into the hands of more and more people! Finding new ways to showcase and promote the incredible work of ARMY, such as Gallery Glow, a free online gallery space that we launched this week!
What is one thing you would tell potential Dream Glow contributors and members of the Dream Glow community?
This is an unique and awesome opportunity to combine your passions for BTS and for art/writing/creativity! I hope that many people take advantage of all the various ways they can get involved with the Dream Glow Community. Being a part of our Discord, getting feedback from other artists, joining our studio events—if you want to keep challenging yourself and growing as an artist/writer, there are tons of ways to do this with Dream Glow.
